Why Work and Study English in Malta? Learn more about our Work Placement package

At ESE (Malta), our main goal is to help students achieve their English language goals. Not only does the school provide language courses, but also the opportunity to work in an English-speaking work environment, develop your English especially for work purposes, and improve your presentational and negotiating skills. In this post, the Work Placement package offered by ESE will be outlined.

What is the ESE Work Placement Package?

In short, this package refers to work placements, internships and work experiences which are usually offered to bona fide students or recent graduates (not longer than 12 months since graduation). Anyone enrolled in this programme is given the opportunity to experience working with an organisation related to their area of interest. In addition, the package includes complimentary English classes, allowing participants to settle in Malta, practise their English skills and make new friends they can spend time with after work.

How long is the work placement?

Work placements should be a minimum of 4 weeks long, which include 16 lessons (12 hours) of General English classes. However, staying 10 weeks is often preferred. In this case, students may have 40 English lessons (30 hours) – that is, 20 during their first week in Malta as well as 20 in the last week. The minimum English level required for this programme is B1 (Pre-Intermediate).

Students are expected to work approximately 40 hours per week. Henceforth, the duration of the stay often determines the number of tasks to be carried out. Not to mention, those who stay in Malta for 4 weeks are usually given fewer demanding tasks compared to those staying 10 weeks or more.

What have past trainees said about this package?

In March/April 2019 I had a 3-week work placement as a group leader with ESE. It was the best time of my life! I had a good time with my colleagues, improved my English and definitely fell in love with Malta!

I will come back as often as I can!

Melina Plomtizer, Germany

I went to ESE Malta for my Internship. I worked 4 days a week and went to ESE once a week. After 5 months I passed my internship and went home with a C1 certificate. I had the best time of my life! So many international friends, cultures, and of course great parties!
