Depending on the learning objectives of a Closed Group between 20 to 40 lessons per week may be booked, with each lesson being 45 minutes long. Courses start on a Monday and are available between September and June although other dates may also be considered. Should you prefer a tailor made programme, you must send us the group profile four weeks prior to arrival.

Course Objectives
Course objectives will vary from one Closed Group to another. Some examples of English language learning objectives for Closed Groups studying English at ESE in Malta include:
- Intensive language and exam preparation for Cambridge First Certificate, one of the Cambridge Main Suite of ESOL exams
- Teaching English for specific subject content for students in Primary or Secondary school (for example Geography or History)
- Development of accuracy and fluency around topics of general interest
- General English for learners with disabilities
- Exam preparation for Trinity GESE & IELTS
What is your level of English?
Don’t worry – we’ll figure that out for you.
Before arrival you can do the ESE online placement test, which must be submitted at least 14 days before you start your course.
Alternatively, our academic staff will ask you to sit for a short placement test on your first day at school, so you are guaranteed to be in the course that is the right level for you.

Please contact us giving us details of start date, number of weeks, number of students and their ages, number of accompanying teachers/group leaders, tuition requirements and number of lessons, accommodation details and preferred activities including requests for any particular event such as company, educational or institutional visits.
Free course, accommodation and leisure activities
Please note that in the low season one teacher/group leader per 15 students is offered a free General English course as well as free accommodation and leisure activities.
