ESE to reopen on Monday 2nd August 2021
‘Students who are in possession of a recognised vaccine certificate are allowed to join our face-to-face lessons from Monday 2nd August 2021’
As of Monday, August 2nd, 2021, ELT schools in Malta will be allowed to reopen with face-to-face lessons in classrooms to all students who have a Recognised Vaccine Certificate.
This applies to all inhouse students and to all students arriving in Malta who have their booking confirmed up to today 30 July 2021.
For your convenience Recognised Vaccine Certificates are: (for EMA approved vaccines only (Comirnaty [Pfizer], Jannsen [Johnson & Johnson], Spikevax [Moderna], Vaxzevria [AstraZeneca]), that are authorized by the national regulatory authority of the administering country, with 14 days after the last dose):
- Official Maltese vaccine certificate.
- An EU Digital COVID vaccine certificate, issued by EU, EEA and non-EU countries connected to the EUDCC gateway.
- United Kingdom NHS (paper or digital) Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine Certificate
- UAE Vaccine Certificate issued by the Dubai Health Authorities with readable QR Code
- Turkish Vaccine certificate of full course of vaccination
- USA CDC record card. As of the 1st August 2021, the USA CDC record card will need to be verified through Verifly in order to be accepted as a valid vaccine certificate.
- Serbian “Digital Green Certificate” with a readable QR Code
- Gibraltar, Jersey and Guernsey vaccination certificate
Certificates from other countries such as Japan and South Korea are being considered but for the time being are not recognised.

Important notice for In-house Students
In-house students who do not have the vaccine certificate can be vaccinated in Malta and will then be able to attend face-to-face lessons once they have received their vaccine certificate issued 14 days after their second vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca) or the one vaccine from Johnson & Johnson. Contact the ESE Welfare Department if you would like more information about getting vaccinated in Malta.
