Lessons

A General English 20 course is included in the Teen Club programme with 4 lessons, each 45 minutes long, held every weekday either in the morning or afternoon.  Teen Club students may also upgrade their course to either General English 30 (6 lessons per day) or the Intensive English course which combines General English 20 with 10 semi / private one-to-one lessons.

Students  improve their general level of English with more focus on their core language skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) grammar and vocabulary.  Lessons are based on exciting topics which are relevant to the students’ ages. Students are also encouraged to develop their fluency by responding to these topics as well as other stimulating teaching material such as current events updates which helps build confidence as they express their opinion in English.

Students staying at the Salini Resort have their lessons at the hotel in well designed classrooms with lots of natural light and outfitted with air conditioning and Smart Boards.  Students staying at Host Families have their lessons at the main ESE school in St. Julians where all classrooms are also air conditioned and outfitted with Smart Boards.

If you prefer to combine a General English group course with one-to-one tuition while learning English, then the Intensive (General English) option is for you.

When booking the Intensive option,  you follow group lessons in the morning and have the opportunity to practise and improve your fluency with other English language learners of the same language level. In the afternoon, you benefit from one-to-one individual attention from your teacher. During this lesson, you can ask your teacher to focus on any area of language you like or simply take the opportunity to practise more speaking on a one-to-one basis. Our academic staff ensures that you follow the course at the right language level for you.

When you book one of our General English courses for adults, you can continue to improve your English through self-study by accessing our free ESE e-Learning programme from the time you enrol until three months after you finish your course.

What is your level of English?

Don’t worry – we’ll figure that out for you. Before arrival you can do the ESE online placement test, which must be submitted at least 14 days before you start your course. Alternatively, our academic staff will ask you to sit for a short placement test on your first day at school.
