1. How far are the Residences from the school?

  • ESE School Residence: within the school itself
  • Whitehouse Residence: across the road from the school
  • ESE Central Apartments: located on the same street as the school; only a 2 minute walk away
  • Belmonte Residence: a 15 minute walk from the school, mostly along the sea promenade Sliema/St. Julians
  • Tamarisk Superior Plus Apartments: a 15 minute walk from the school.


2. Can I pay by Credit Card?

Yes, we accept VISA and MASTERCARD.  You can use this method of payment by booking directly online.  Or if you prefer we can set up a link which will take you directly to the secure payment gateway.  This is especially useful for out of the norm bookings which are not listed on our book online portal, for example, for Long Term packages.  Alternatively, you can pay directly into our bank account details of which are in our Terms & Conditions.


3. How far is the Beach Club from the ESE school?

The ESE Beach Club is located at the St.Julians Waterpolo club on Main Street in St.Julians. Entrance is free from Monday to Friday on presentation of your ESE student card. The Beach Club is located just 800 meters away from the ESE main building. Entrance is available on a first-come-first-served basis.


4. What is the nationality mix in the class?

This varies from class to class depending on the level and time of year. However, as a guideline the nationality mix on average throughout 2014 has been as follows:

5. How do I book?

  • Through an agent who represents us

6. What is included in the package?

This all depends on the package you choose. An Adult course and accommodation package includes the following:

7. Do courses start every Monday or can I start any day of the week?

Courses start every Monday but depending on your course and the length of it we will try to accommodate you as best as we can.


8. How do I apply for the visa?

9. In case my visa is refused what is the refund procedure?

A deposit of €200 including a registration fee of €50 is required to book the course. There is no additional charge for visa application. In the event that a visa is not issued then the total €200 is non-refundable.


10. Do I need to pay a deposit for my course/package?

Payment of fees must be paid in full when booking. If a visa is required then a non-refundable deposit of €200 plus a registration fee of €45 must be paid whilst the balance of fees is to be settled in full when the visa is issued.


11. Should I book a flight ticket with ESE?

ESE is fully licensed by IATA and can help you with your flight reservations. Today most tickets are electronic and this means that we can email your flight ticket immediately. This also means that we would have all your correct flight details in our system and this would make it easier to arrange your airport transfers correctly.


12. If I travel alone do I need to book a single room?

This all depends on the type of accommodation you request. If you book a room at ESE Residence you must book a single room and a single room supplement applies. If you book a room at any of our self-catering apartments or Host Families you may book either sharing (with another student) or a single room and the supplement fee applies.


13. If I travel with my family can I stay at either ESE Residence, White House Residence or ESE apartments?

There really is not much difference between the two residences as both are similar to a bed and breakfast type of accommodation. ESE Residence has double rooms only. Whitehouse Residence has only one room with two interconnecting bedrooms suitable for a family of four. Normally, couples would stay at either the ESE Residence or the White House Residence and families with children normally stay in our apartments.


14. If we are a couple can we book Astolat, ESE Central, Belmonte or Tamarisk Apartments?

Belmonte Apartments have either 2 or 3 bedrooms per apartment which means that unless a supplement is paid you would share the apartment with other students.


15. If I do not want the leisure activities is there a discount?

No, there is no discount as an activities programme is a special offer if booking course and accommodation.


16. If my son/daughter is 8 years old can he/she book an English course at ESE?

This is possible depending on the time of the year.  The Young Learners Programme runs in the summer and is designed for kids from 8 to 12 years old. Otherwise as we do not normally have classes of children below the age of 12 your child may be taught on a one-to-one basis, i.e. Private Tuition, and the price would reflect this.


17. What course material is included?

All students, teens or adults, are given a course book. At ESE we use various course books depending on the course chosen and the student's level. The books are supplemented using both published and authentic materials taken from various sources such as the internet and newspapers.


18. May I choose to have morning or afternoon lessons?

General English 20 (GE20): From October to May GE20 lessons are generally held in the morning. In the peak months of June to September the students are allocated by the Director of Studies to morning or afternoon lessons depending on the nationality mix as well as the availability of resources at the time of arrival.

GE30, Intensive, Miniclass, Business English, Academic Year Course, IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC and Cambridge: All these courses have 30 lessons per week. Lessons start in the morning and end early afternoon.

Private Tuition: Choosing morning or afternoon lessons depends on how many private tuition lessons you take and the time of year. We will try to accommodate your requests as much as possible. Requests must be stated at the time of booking.
